Mapusa: St Xavier’s College students excel at 'Power of Expression'

Panaji, Dec 9: St Xavier’s  College, Mapusa represented by Aileen Almeida and Joanita Lobo excels in ‘The Power of Expression’   an Intercollegiate competition through the medium of Power Point presentations  organised by the Emmaus Counselling Centre of the Carmelite Fathers, Mapusa.

They made their  presentation on the topic 'Identity: An adolescent concern'; the second place  was bagged by Megan Fernandes and Nayantara Almeida  of Carmel College for Women, Nuvem who presented on the theme 'Healthy  Parent – Child Relationships :The Foundation of Family Living Today' while Nidhi Bhandiwad and Nehal Sutar of  GVM’s GPR College of  Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi, Ponda  who presented on Youth and Social Responsibility-The Need of the Hour won the third place.

Five colleges were selected  for the final day on the basis of the write-up submitted by the teams of the colleges.  The other  colleges who presented on the final day were, Govt College Sanquelim and S S Dempo  college ,Panaji,  ‘The Power of Expression’ aids in fostering self-expression, enhancing coping skills, managing stress, and strengthening a sense of self. The purpose of this event is an aim to encourage self-discovery and emotional growth through the presentation of ideas in the powerpoint presentations.

Br Malvino Alfonso ,co-ordinator of the programme welcomed the gathering and explained the importance of the Expressive Art Therappy. Prizes and Certificates were distributed at the hands of Rev. Dr.(Fr.) Walter De Sa ,Principal,St. Xaviers College,Mapusa who also addressed the gathering.

The panel of judges included Pravin Sabnis, Merlyn Fernandes and Fr Clifford Castelino. Br Malvino Alfonso proposed the vote of thanks. Debbie D’souza, staff, Carmelite Seminary, Mapusa compered the programme.
