Mangalore, Dec 9: The golden batch of '63 of St Aloysius High School had their reunion on Nov 30 and December 1.
They met after 50 years. Twenty nine of them along with their spouses came to the High School, they sat in their XD class room and Fr Headmaster took their attendance.
Thereafter they reminisced their high school days, recounting the wonderful days and fun they had while studying at St Aloysius High School. They recalled the names of some of the great teachers they had, like Panduranga Pai, Bhandari, Fr Tellis and a few others.
At 12 noon Fr Denzil Lobo Sj, rector, did a presentation on the recent developments in the institution and the vision for the future.
He said, "we are looking for the day when St Aloysius college will become St Aloysius University".
He spoke of the Jesuit tradition and how the Institution has been trying to reach out to students coming from weaker economic background. He also spoke of the Aloysian Boys Home the centenary project of the college.
The next day some of them attended a thanksgiving mass at the College Chapel, followed by more sharing of "good old days" and a cruise. In the evening a special dinner was organized at hotel Ocean Pearl. Fr Rector and the headmaster attended the dinner.
Golden jubilee mementos were distributed to each of the participants.
A souvenir with the names of all the classmates and their achievements was also released. K V Kamath, chairman, ICICI, who is also an alumnus from the same batch, offered a generous gift of Rs 25 lacs towards his alma mater.
The cheque was handed over to Fr Rector. There were many distinguished alumni coming from US, UK and other parts of the country. Flavian Kamath, Jai Shetty, Lance Lewis, George Zachariah, Frank D'Souza, Suresh Shetty, N S Ponnappa,Primus Rasquinha.
Primus Rasquinha, Arthur D'Souza and Prasad Rao were the persons who put in efforts to unite their classmates after 50 years.
