Pune, Dec 6: Actor Sanjay Dutt who was convicted on the charges that he possessed arms illegally during the 1993 Bombay blasts, has just completed 18 months of his 60 months jail term and is out on parole for 30 days. He is presently serving a jail sentence of five years at Pune's Yerwada Jail and has 42 months to complete as sentenced by the Supreme Court.
He had come out on parole on October 1 for his own medical conditions, for a fortnight that got extended for another two weeks. He had been granted parole for medical conditions pertaining to his leg and high blood pressure. While returning on October 30, he had said that the problems that he had with his leg still persisted. This time around he is out for a month to be with his wife Maanyata Dutt who is said to be ill. His parole application was sanctioned by Pune Divisional Commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh and was given based on a recommendation by Assistant Commissioner of the Mumbai Police.
The parole comes with the stipulation that the actor should report to the Khar police station twice a week, throughout the duration of the parole. While the Supreme Court had reduced the 53 year old actor's jail sentence by a year and brought it to a five year sentence, it refused his plea for a review of its judgement on May 10.
