Mangalore: FMMC first medical college under RGUHS to get NAAC 'A' grade

Mangalore, Nov 21: Father Muller Medical College (FMMC) has been accredited with ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the highest autonomous body in the country established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country, said Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, administrator of FMMC.
Addressing a press meet here on Thursday November 21, he said FMMC was the first medical college under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore to be accredited 'A' grade by NAAC.
Briefing further, he said this achievement is enhanced also by the accreditation of the three clinical laboratories of Father Muller Medical College Hospital namely microbiology, biochemistry and pathology by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
Father Muller Medical College Hospital as a whole is also undergoing the process of accreditation and the pre-assessment for the accreditation of the hospital by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) is already over, he said. "With this, our commitment to quality and excellence is demonstrated. This accreditation is a challenge for us to maintain and enhance the highest standards and provide better infrastructure," he added.
Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing that is affiliated to Mangalore University is also accredited by NAAC, he added.
Dr Sanjeev Rai, chief of medical service, FMCI, Dr Jayaprakash Alva, dean, FMMC, Dr Narasimman S, vice dean among others were present.
