Gurgaon, Nov 19 (IANS): Two people, including an employee of an export firm, have been arrested for making extortion calls to the firm's owner, police said Tuesday.

Anil Kashyap, 30, and his cousin Nikhil Kashyap, 19, made extortion calls to industrialist Akash Mittal and his brother Badal.

The firm's owner in Udyog Vihar also got an email Nov 14 demanding Rs.10 lakh, a police officer said.

Anil Kashyap first posed as a woman and threatened to upload an alleged obscene MMS and photos on the internet.

Police, however, said there was no such material with the caller.

"After that, a man called the exporter, posing as the brother of the alleged woman victim and threatened him with dire consequences if the demands were not met," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vivek Sharma.

They also threatened to kill the children of the industrialist, Sharma said.

The accused also had details of the children, including their school timings and daily routine, and demanded Rs.12 lakh to be delivered in Haridwar, he added.

The caller also told the exporter as to when and how the money was supposed to be handed over to them.

They told the exporter to put a red cloth on the main gate of the company for confirmation, once the demanded amount was sent to Haridwar.

A crime branch from Gurgaon's Sector 17 and the cyber cell jointly arrested the duo from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Nov 18.

Anil Kashyap, a resident of Delhi's Madangir, was working at the export firm for the last seven years and was getting Rs.25,000 as salary. His cousin was studying for a diploma in motor mechanics in Meerut.

He knew the activities of his employer and his family who live in DLF-2 area, police said.

They were Tuesday produced before a local court which sent them to one-day police remand.
