New Delhi, Nov 19 (IANS): Two people were arrested here with 324 kg cannabis valued at Rs.1.5 crore in the international market, police said Tuesday.
Nazruddeen, 30, and Sanjay, 32, were arrested Sunday night from east Delhi's Shakarpur area while they were going to deliver the cannabis consignment to a contact.
"The accused were coming from Ballabhgarh in Haryana in a mini truck, carrying the cannabis packed in gunny bags, and heading towards east Delhi's Khajoori Khas area to deliver the consignment," said Additional Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav.
The accused used to procure cannabis in Ballabhgarh from one Tinkoo who belongs to Odisha, and supply it in Delhi.
Nazruddeen said he came in contact with Sanjay when he was working as a helper in a telecommunication company. He added they then started selling cannabis in their locality in small quantities.
"Two years ago, Nazruddeen met one Pradeepta of Odisha. Nazrudeen offered Pradeepta that if he (Pradeepta) could transport the cannabis from Odisha, he could collect the same from Ballabhgarh," said the officer.
