Damascus, Nov 18 (IANS): At least four people were killed Monday by multiple mortar attacks that targeted several districts of Syria's capital Damascus, the country's interior ministry said.
The mortars landed at al-Zablatani, Qassa, Bab Touma and al-Abbasyeen in the southern part of Damascus, Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying in a statement carried by the pro-government al-Ekhbaria TV.
The recent attacks were part of a series of mortar shelling by the rebels in the countryside of Damascus.
The rebels have opted for indiscriminate mortar attacks against several districts of the capital, particularly the southern and eastern parts, according to local media.
Syrian troops have resorted to a new military tactic to force the rebels to surrender by besieging the rebel-held areas and blocking entry or exit until their resources dry up.
