Bantwal: Two killed on spot in accident near Kushalnagar

Bantwal, Nov 18: Two youngsters were killed on the spot and two others seriously injured in an accident near Kushalnagar in the early hours of Monday November 18.


Sabir and Kalandar

The deceased have been identified as Mohammed Sabir (21), a resident of Maripalla, and Kalandar (20) of BC Road.

Both the injured persons are identified as Safwan, and both are aged 20. One of them is said to be critical. They were admitted to a hospital in Mysore.

The four were travelling in a white Volkswagen car (KA 21 3006), when they crashed into a lorry at Anekal near Kushalnagar.

They were travelling from BC Road to Kushalnagar while the lorry was plying from Mysore to Mangalore.

Among the deceased, Sabir was employed at Golden Plywood run by his brother.

A case has been registered in Kushalnagar police station.

    And Arun, check and read the comments correctly. Engine arrangement design is present in almost every car. Forget about your lovely ambassador, which doesnt have an ECU. Dont speak about nonsense weight and all.

    IMO..Kushalnagar has got one of the best roads in Karnataka (Mysore-Bantwal State Highway) even better than the roads in Mangalore, Mr.Stan have you ever been to Madikeri via Puttur? Dont just sit and comment crap just by guessing Indian Roads, And stop blaming Any Manufacturers, Accidents occur by Human error most of the time, Its not like if u buy Ambassador it will you save you..,

    Hi Stan,

    It is a well known fact that in Dubai the traffic regulations are so strict and also being followed by the general public, that's why there are limited accidents. But Kuwait is the worst place in GCC I believe.

    In Kuwait (with young Kuwaities) speed in fun and there follows bad accidents. What is remaining would remain after the accident is only twisted metal. God forbid.

    Very Sad,
    This is the second accident in a Volkswagen car within a week (last one from Falnir road, South Indian Hotel)

    Volkswagen cars are having very high speed and driver won't come to know since vibration is very limited and no noise too.

    These cars only good for expressway and not meant for our centuries old roads.

    Misquithama, I am not blaming cars!
    Our roads can not handle these International standard cars.
    This car might be maximum in 80 or 90 KM speed.
    Same cars in Gulf even above 120 KM speed still passengers are more secure.
    Foreign cars are passenger safety cars provided user friendly passenger safety roads with barriers and dividers in between so the front and front collision is very limited.

    You may be automobile engineer and knowing the theory of transmission very well without practical.

    Do not compare Indian made Ambassador to Volkswagen.

    Why this engine management system not adopted Indian made cars even in diesel, without kicking paddle for petrol/diesel cars at elist 150 kg force they will not move further forget about accumulating speed like foreign cars.

    And moreover do not compare or blame tires for an entire car crash like anyone bombard the vehicles.

    JNB.. looks like u work for a rival company of the Volkswagen. Indian roads deserve a certain style of driving. Overtaking on tuning or opp side when a vehicle is approaching or even driving at a speed of 100.. It was a pure co-incidence that 2 Volkswagen cars have been in the news for the wrong reasons... Sure it was the fault of the drivers.. In this case.. Check out the Tyre... how the hell is Volkswagen responsible for that.. It is the duty of the driver to replace the tyre frequently n drive at normal speed.. Just coz we have been given a freedom of speech, doesn't mean that u type crap..

    Please wear specks and read properly.
    I have not mentioned anything wrong about VW.
    I know VW better than you from last 20 Years.
    I don't need your advice.
    VW cars even move before pressing the accelerator, see any Indian cars move before giving accelerator.It is made in such a sporty way you need better roads otherwise playing tennis on a table like paying in a open ground.

    JNB This is known as anti stall feature governed by engine management system. This is nothing to do with speed. It helps you to move your car in the incline and also compensates RPM whenever required.

    Also, most if the diesel cars will provide more torque use of a higher compression ratio. Hence, in the lower rpm it has enough torque to move the car without accelerator input.

    This is a public forum. Be a responsible citizen and educate the readers rather than making baseless comments.

    Are you aware that 'foreign made cars' are safer than Ambassador driven at the same speed? Are you aware how seat belt, air bags and crumple zones are effective in the case of frontal collisions? Are you aware of Euro NCAP?
    It's a high time people start using seat belts in all 4 wheelers. It's a need to educate the use of seat belts. People have a wrong mentality that seat belts are used by amateurs who are not confident of their driving skills. Enough said, before you drive a car without seat belts, think about your loved and dear ones, and how they value our lives. Develop the mentality of buying a car equipped with safety features like Airbags, ABS and EBD, NCAP <4 rather than buying a car based on its fuel efficiency. Money is more important than your life. Invest 50k more on your car to have these features. Investing 50k on the higher models with safety feature is like insuring your life against untoward incidents.
    Cars like Fiat have negligible sales in India owing to the lesser fuel economy Vis to Vis its direct competitors. They have so many safety features which have proved. However, people go for cars made with tin with no safety features.
    To educate consumers, FIAT, Volkswagen, Volvo rather spend so much on R&D keeping safety in mind. And most of the localized cars for India, think only about fuel efficiency by making the car lighter by skipping essential metal barrier behind rear seat, reducing the size of front beam, skipping metal engine skid guard and adding think skinny tires.
    Please make your facts straight before arriving at a judgment.

    I visit India annually may be 8 days or more. My family, wife , and grown up kids are in a foreign country. So I did not purchase any car. I will be very old to drive a car when I will settle down in India. Now I am driving a foreign car but here infrastructure is good for such cars. We have here 2 lane-8 lane roads, and systematic traffic rules.

    But there are more accident with the infrastructure, lanes, traffic rules. More people die that in our poor country roads. Yes we need to have better roads, but for that you cannot blame foreign cars, it is reckless driving that causes accidents, if you are a driver then you will realize that the car has been smashed and it is not in 40 speeds. Please comment well dont comment just for the sake of commenting.

    I am driving these foreign cars since more than 30 years. It takes some seconds to pick up the speed of 100 kph. To control the vehicle you need proper experience and roads. Our roads are so narrow and to stop this high speeding vehicle you need at least 15 years distance. But we have single road and neck to neck traffic. Most of the cars got high speed engines but to make it a low cost vehicle in India engines were not mounted on proper chassis.

    We Indians are crazy to drive foreign made cars. We are fit for our Ambassador car because our roads do not fit for these foreign/sports cars. First Government has to provide roads fit for these car than they have to allow foreign companies to sell their cars/buses/scooters in India

    After reading some comments, I am confused.. There is no reason mentioned in what circumstances the car met accident & two lives lost.

    Its really unnecessary to react without knowing the fact. Not only the bad road condition causing the accident but also careless driving, drive in sleepy mood, drive as alcoholic, over speed, half trained driver, flat tires, opposite side driver's negligence, engine faults like break fail etc,etc.

    Even if we drive an Ambassador car in above said conditions, accident may occur.

    Blaming foreign car is just like a half trained dancer blaming the ground/stage for his poor performance.

    Drive safely..Live & let live.
