Mangalore, Apr 8: DySP S M Mantoor has been promoted to the post of Lokayukta SP on Friday April 7.

Shankar M Mantoor, known as S M Mantoor hails from Jamkhandi in Bagalkot taluk.  He had joined Karnataka Police in 1972 as sub inspector.  Thereafter he had served in Bellary, Davangere, Bhatkal and in CoD before being promoted to the post of DySP Mysore.  He also served in Udupi before taking over as DySP here on August 1, 2003.

He has also bagged the prestigious Chief Minister's gold medal in 1985 and President's medal in 1995.
