Mangalore, Apr 8: These days nationalized banks are hitting headlines for all the wrong reasons. While SBI is in news for the indefinite strike by the employees, now Syndicate Bank is occupying the headlines of newspapers for a shameful deed by its assistant manager of Hampankatta branch.
K M Unnikrishnan, a resident of Kulshekar and assistant manager of Hampankatta branch has been accused of fraud of Rs 4, 80,520 to the customers by fraudulently using the password during the period of April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2006. The senior manager of Hampankatta branch T Vishwanath Rai has now filed a case in the Bunder police station in this regard.
Unnikrishnan was in-charge of Single Window system in the Hampankatta branch. So using the password of single window system he is said to have used the money of nearly 30 customers for his personal use. The fraud came to light only at the end of the financial year recently.
The Bunder police are investigating the case.
