New Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS): Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal Saturday filed his nomination from the New Delhi assembly constituency and said the countdown to end Congress "misrule" had begun.
The New Delhi constituency will witness a triangular contest between Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Bharatiya Janata Party's Vijender Gupta and Kejriwal.
Dikshit filed her nomination Thursday.
Accompanied by his father Gobind Ram Kejriwal, mother Gita Devi and former naval chief Admiral Ramdas besides a large number of supporters, Kejriwal reached the election office at Jamnagar House Saturday morning, the last day for filing nominations.
The Dec 4 poll would bring the curtains down on the 15 year Congress rule in Delhi, he said. "This is an election for the people of Delhi and they will fight it."
The results will be out Dec 8.
Kejriwal left his Vaishali (Uttar Pradesh) residence early in the morning and reached the party office at Connaught Place at around 10 a.m. A large number of his supporters had gathered there.
From there, he reached the Jamnagar House election office in a procession amid slogans like "Bhrastachar ka ek hi kaal, Kejriwal Kejriwal," (Only one warrior to fight corruption, Kejriwal, Kejriwal).
