BJP, CPI-M have common agenda: Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 13 (IANS): The BJP and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have a common agenda of reducing the Congress seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here Wednesday.

Chandy said their justification in 1977 was to fight the Emergency and in 1989 the two together placed V.P. Singh in the prime minister's chair in their avowed fight against corruption. In some time, they will come up with a justification for the 2014 polls also, he added.

"The BJP is unable to open its account in Kerala and the CPI-M is losing hope to get more seats ... and their common enemy is the Congress. So it's quite natural that they will work together," he said.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, the Congress-led United Democratic Front won 16 out of total 20 seats from Kerala and the Left opposition won four seats.
