Among Rukmayya's children, the eldest son Praveen was out working on night shift, while his two other children were in their own houses elsewhere.

MLA Mohiuddin Bava visited the family and assured maximum help from the government. Local corporator Dayanand Shetty, Keshava Sunil and others were present.
It is said that the fire spread quickly and the wooden beams got burnt in a matter of minutes. The electricity wires too were affected.
