Mangalore, Nov 3: Bunts from across the twin districts came together at A B Shetty Convention Hall, Bunts Hostel, on Saturday November 2 to support educationist Sadananda Shetty in the upcoming presidential election of Bunts alias Nadavara Mathr Sangha, Mangalore.
The election will be held on November 10. There are two candidates, Sadananda Shetty and Ajith Malady, contesting for the coveted post. The association has more than 100 years of history and the election takes place every third year.
Dr N Vinay Hegde, chairman, Nitte Education Trust, Dr M Shantharam Shetty, renowned surgeon and Bunts Foundation president, veteran literati Erya Laxminarayan Alva, music composer Gurukiran, Dr K R Shetty, politician A Amaranath Shetty, and Vijaynath Vittal Shetty were the other prominent personalities on the dais who campaigned for Sadananda Shetty.
All of them cast their vote for Sadananda Shetty pointing out that no development had taken place in the 10 years during the leadership of predecessors.
Veteran literati Erya Laxminarayan Alva mentioned that the association has a history of more than 10 decades and the recent years have been bad in terms of progress.
