Bangalore, Nov 2: The most awaited Magis 2013, the integral formation programme for the Catholic youth kicked off with a bang on November 1 on the campus of St Joseph’s Boys’ high school in the garden city Bangalore.
Magis in Latin means “To do more”. “Rejoicing”, “reaching out”, “rebuilding” and “reflection and action” were the four major goals of this program.
The young and energetic participants began pouring in at Ashirvad from all over the nation with a fire burning in them to make a difference.
At 9 am all the participants registered their names. There were about 500 of them. This was followed by a creative mass which was celebrated by Fr Prashanth Madtha and many other celebrants.
Then there was the colorful inauguration with flags, balloons and dances. Fr Hedwig Da Costa and Fr Clifford Sequeira were the chief guests. The chief guests hoisted the flag and handed over the magis flags to the delegates from different colleges.
Fr Brian Pereira , the coordinator, instructed the youth about magis, world youth day, the importance of Magis and motivated them to participated whole heartedly through his interesting videos and presentation. There was also a beautiful bamboo dance which entertained all.
After the lunch he also conducted the ice-breaker which made the youth feel at home with one another. The participants were divided into 16 groups. They were supposed to have their exposure programme and all the forth coming activities in these groups. They met in the groups and planned for the following day.
There were action songs conducted by Peter and group, which boosted the spirit of the participants. Later there was a meaningful benediction and penitential service.
