Vodafone India slashes mobile net charges by 80 percent


New Delhi, Oct 31 (IANS): Telecom service provider Vodafone India has slashed mobile internet price by 80 percent for both pre-paid and post-paid customers using second generation (2G) connection across the country for all its circles, effective Nov 1, a company statement said here Thursday.

“This 80 percent reduction in mobile internet charges for customers using 2G is an important step in our strategy to drive mobile internet and we are confident that this move will facilitate in faster adoption and better usage,” said Vivek Mathur, chief commercial officer, Vodafone India.

Post the successful pilot launch in three circles -- Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh West and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh -- in mid-June, this is now being rolled out pan-India, the company said.
