Udupi, Oct 28: A protest meeting was held at Santhekatte junction by Hindu Hitharakshana Samithi on Saturday October 26 at 4 pm. Over 800 supporters gathered at the junction during the protest.
The protesters warned the government as well as the police department about the recent incidents such as objections on 'Nejar New Masjid' and 'Hindu Leader Harshavardhan car set ablaze' at Hoode.
Tight police security was deployed under the guidance of SP Boralingahia, DYSP Prabhudev Mane, circle inspector Maruthi G Nayak, town SI Madhu, Malpe SI Jayanth, Brahmavar SI Girish, Manipal SI Ravi. Rapid action force was also deployed. All major areas were under CCTV surveillance.
Mohan Gowda, state representative-Hindu Janajagrathi Vedike, Sathyajith Surthkal, state vice-correspondent, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Sharan Pumpwell, Bajaranga Dal Mangalore Unit, Baikady Suprasad Shetty, president of VHP Udupi, T Shambu Shetty, RSS leader, Vijay Kumar Hindu Janajagrathi Samithi Udupi, Sunil K R Bajaranga Dal Udupi, Vasudev Bhat, president of Hindu Yuva Sene Udupi, Umesh Shetty Santhekatte, Somaiyya Suverna Santhekatte, Vinod Kumar Santhekatte, president of Hindu Hitharakshana Samithi, Arvind K, Acchutha Amin, Harshavardhan Hoode, Hindu leader among many others were present during the protest.
Umesh Shetty welcomed the gathering, B Suprasad Shetty gave an introductory message and Sunil K R proposed the vote of thanks. Dayanand Karkera compered the programme.
