Udupi: Karkala man gets two years in jail for killing father-in-law

Udupi, Oct 27: The Udupi district and sessions court has sentenced a man from Karkala to two years of rigorous imprisonment for killling his father-in-law.
Munna alias Marshal, a resident of Indira Nagar of Sanoor in Karkala, was convicted of murdering his father-in-law in a state of drunken stupor in the year 2008.
Munna was staying with his wife Sampa and her father Sheena. Every night he used to come home drunk and pick a fight with them.
On April 4, 2008, he came home heavily drunk and created a scene. He kicked his wife repeatedly, and when her father Sheena tried to stop him, Munna grabbed a heavy wooden stick and hit him on the head. Sheena who was gravely injured was admitted to Wenlock hospital in Mangalore, where he succumbed on April 20.
Karkala rural police had registered a murder case in this regard.
Judge B M Angta of district and sessions court who heard the case sentenced Munna to two years of rigorous imprisonment after his guilt was established. T S Jituri was the public prosecutor.
