Mangalore, Oct 25: The Postgraduate College Students Association in the city has said that they had held protests and hunger strikes for the arrests of people responsible for the rape and murder of Sowjanya during the preliminary stages of investigation. They had also submitted a petition to the chief minister urging him to hand over the case to the CBI besides urging for a compensation of Rs 5 lac to her family.
However, some organizations have started targeting the Dharmadhikari blaming him and the Kshetra for the unfortunate murder of Sowjanya. This is condemnable. Though the association is for just decision regarding the case, the protests should not obstruct transparent investigation.
The association condemns unfounded allegation against the kshetra and considers it as a foul play against the religion, stated the statement released by the association to the press.
The Postgraduate All College Students Association consists of Sahaj J Rai, as the president, Manish B Gatty as executive president, Chandra Verma Jain as cultural secretary, Rakshith S Poojary as all college students association president and Shravan Rao.
