Puttur, Oct 22: The accused in the infamous Padil home stay attack, who walked out of jail one by one until the last three were released on August 24, can now look forward to being felicitated for their act by the NaMo Bharath.
"The accused who were behind bars in connection to the home stay attack at Padil in 2012 will be honoured during a public felicitation programme at Puttur in November first week," said NaMo Bharath chief Dr Prasad Bhandary.
Speaking to reporters, he said the actual culprits in the case were 'protected' by the previous government. "R Ashok who was home minister under BJP government did a mistake in implementing Goonda Act on protectors of culture," he said.
"Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty is also plotting to arrest me, but I shall take it as a challenge," he said.
In July 2012, activists of HJV had attacked boys and girls who were celebrating a birthday at Morning Mist Home Stay in Padil, claiming that the youngsters were indulging in immoral activities. After the attack, police had arrested 38 out of 44 accused including two mediapersons. They were granted bail over the next one year, with the last three accused being released on August 24.
