Mangalore: Woman attempts suicide with infant at Panambur, child dead

Mangalore, Oct 21: In a tragic incident, a woman attempted suicide along with her infant at Panambur beach here on Monday October 21.

While the lifeguards at the beach managed to rescue the woman and bring  her ashore, the infant could not be saved.

The incident occured at around 5.30 pm at Koorikatta near Baikampady. The child was around one-a-half years old.

It is said that as soon as the lifeguards spotted the woman and the child, they rushed to their rescue. The woman was rushed to AJ Hospital and her condition is said to be critical.

The identities of the woman and the child are yet to be ascertained. However, police sources said that she resides in Kudroli.

A case has been registered in Panambur police station.

    Very sad. committing suicide is very bad instead of fight for Rights. What is the mistake of poor innocent infant? The mother herself killed the child. Now unknown people will comment literally without knowing the fact.

    Rita if you think that you have an option you take your own life and here is a classic example now she has ended with more problems then she started with ! If your spouse is not supportive there will be someone else or if nothing we can always rely on God !unless this lady herself required a good counseling, as I mentioned earlier that most of the time many things are done only to spite the spouse or in-Laws to " teach them all a GOOD Lesson"!! this is because of Major pseudo Ego problems the, strength to over come this not from anyone but within ourselves Rita I am saying this because If you hear my story I should have committed suicide long back but Bible and its content(HOPE) held me together!!

    @Ethan, you are right..but you see everyone of us has his own Story which is better than Hollywood filmstory .and about me I too want to suecide or run away three times a day.but something holds me back.and this thought has some daily wagers not because they dont have time to think or dont want.they are worried about mostly about their daily bread and Family.IN such families in-laws husband has the Zepter in Hand .If the Lady delivers a Baby Girl instead of Boy they make her life un barrable.May be such condition was made her to commit suecide.God knows.hope she will recover.

    what will be her situation today when she knows even a kid of her life is no more. I think life doesn't give any roll back option. Past is past. so, think before act. I know life will be tough or really challenging. but please face it than looking for such a unjustifiable step.. ever.

    Very sad indeed. The lady might have had millions of reasons for ending her life .. but, why kill a child too. There are number of people who could have given that child a fighting chance in this world.

    It is Such a stupidity when you do not want to live why do you kill the life on another innocent human being, this is only done to spite the spouse and with no other intention! just because a woman has gives birth to a baby she has no right to kill it, as no one can give life to any living being except God so whosoever future suicider's reading this please keep that in your mind A God who gives life knows how to take care of that life if you cannot take care at the least, leave those innocent lives alone let God take care of them Mathew 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life"

    @Ethan Florida,all your good words from Bible or anybody Moral sometimes works less when someone is really in Trouble and finds no way out specially women with no Support from husband or in-laws drive them to suecide .Of course it was not right what she did or when someone does.we tell a lot.but when a Situation Comes we too may do the same.only when we are steady in our faith and prayers may help.may the innocent Baby be with Angels.and pray the woman survives to tell the truth.
