Bangalore, Oct 21 (IANS): Indian IT bellwether Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) bagged a multi-million, multi-year deal for an unspecified amount to manage the IT infrastructure of Bombardier Transportation, a leading rail transportation technology firm.
"As a strategic partner, we will provide remote infrastructure management to Bombardier Transportation's data centres set up recently in Germany, through private cloud services paired with virtualisation," the Mumbai-based global software major said in a statement here Monday.
TCS will also manage the partner's server, storage, network and security services and provide SAP basis support to drive operational efficiency and improve agility.
"The deal establishes us a partner of choice for IT infrastructure services in the German market, as our client is executing a next generation programme to drive efficiency, reliability and transparency," said TCS' central Europe head Sapthagiri Chapalapalli.
The Berlin-based Bombardier Transportation has a diverse customer base with products and services in 60 countries worldwide where its 100,000 vehicles are in operation.
"India is central to our information services strategy and the partnership with TCS offers operational excellence in markets the world over," Bombardier Transportation vice-president Thomas Leidenbach said in the statement.
The transportation unit is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the $16.8-billion Canadian aerospace and trains major Bombardier.
