Beltangady, Oct 21: In an act of honesty, a rickshaw driver returned gold ornaments weighing 3.5 sovereigns to its owner who had left it on the passenger seat.
Anand, an auto driver by profession, is a common sight at the auto rickshaw stand in front of Guruvyankere bus stand.
Ismail, a resident of Shanthigudde Majal, Padangadi village, with his wife, aunt, and granddaughters hired an auto from Guruvyankere to Majal.
Ismail had placed the bag on the seat. After they reached home, they searched for the bag and realized that they had lost it.
Later, when Ismail came to Guruvyankere auto stand, he enquired about the bag. When Anand searched his auto, he found the bag there. Anand handed over the bag, which contained gold ornaments weighing 3.5 sovereigns to Ismail.
Mangalore: Taxi driver returns bag containing gold to rightful owner
Mangalore, Oct 21: In yet another case, reported on Sunday October 20, a taxi driver returned a bag containing cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 2 lac to the rightful owner with the help of police.
Taxi driver Chandrahas Shettigar, a resident of Kaikamba Kinnikambla had come to the city from Bajpe airport and while returning, he saw a bag lying on the road near Balmatta. The bag had Rs 30,000 cash, gold jewellery worth Rs 2 lac, credit card, and passport along with other documents.
Chandrahaas thought that the bag might have been dropped by a passenger from the airport. Hence we went to the airport and enquired.
Meanwhile, Vijendra Kumar from Falnir residing in Pune, who came with his family, filed a complaint with Bunder police stating that their bag had fallen near PVS circle from the boot of the Ambassador car they had hired.
Chandrahaas who was driving some distance behind the car saw a bag fallen on the road, and took it to the airport. The Bunder police had passed on information about the lost bag everywhere via the wireless.
The information also reached the airport. The officials asked Chandrahas to take the bag to Bunder station. He did as advised and returned the bag to the family at Bunder police station.
