Kundapur, Oct 19: "Udupi district was famous for peace and unity. But now due to political revenge, BJP activists are harassed and they also receive threat calls from several people. The activists are attacked by people who call themselves as Congress activists," said former minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He addressed the media on Friday October 18 evening after visiting Surendra Ganiga who was attacked three days back near Hemmadi.
The poster of Narendra Modi was put on National highway after obtaining permission from the panchayat. Angered by this, Congress activists attacked a BJP activist. Adding to that, with the use of political power, they have pressurized police to not to book case against the attackers, which is against the democracy and BJP condemns it, said Kota.
The person who was attacked, when he went to a private hospital was denied treatment by doctors as they said it is the incident of a fight. But, he was later treated by the doctors after stating that he was injured in an accident.
In this regard, discussion is done with district administration, SP and other to take strict actions against the accused.
"At least now local MLA Gopal Poojary and the government should be alert and ask their activists to not to repeat such incidents. If continued then BJP will stage a massive protest," he warned.
"Rural youth including several others who are in support of Narendra Modi are installing posters of him with legal permission. Other than attacking our activists, let them put a banner of their prime minister of choice," said youth.
Thingale Vikramarjuna Heggde, Sadananda Ravindra Ganiga among others were present.
