Mangalore, Oct 14: The leaders of Muslim Jamath Council on Monday October 14 submitted a petition to IGP (western range) Pratap Reddy and SP Shantanu Sinha seeking police protection to the Muslim brethren to enable them to celebrate Bakrid peacefully and offer animals as sacrifice during the religious festival being celebrated during this week.
The petition, submitted under the leadership of Maulana P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, president of Karnataka Jamaat Council and Qazi for Udupi, Hassan and Chikmagalur districts, requested the police officials to act against communal forces who are trying to spoil communal harmony and also against increasing robberies in the district.
The police officials responded positively assuring strict action against anti-social elements.
The delegation consisted of Abusufian Madani, chief secretary of Karnataka Muslim Jamaat Council; Haji B M Mumtaz Ali, secretary; M S M Zaini Kamil; district president Haider Partippadi; vice-president Aboobakker Sajipa; member Ali Kunhi Pare and others.
