Mangalore Dasara: Celebration in air as city wears bridal look

Mangalore, Oct 14: For over nine days, Mangalore city has been wearing a bridal look, bedecked with hundreds of lights, including varieties of colourful miniature ones in all the main roads of the city. It is impossible to drive around the city in the late evening hours and not be bathed in the festive atmosphere that has enveloped the city.
The temples and streets of the city are shining in all their glory, inviting people from all corners of the region and elsewhere. Thousands of pilgrims have been thronging the temples for prayers on all these nine days.
The lightings adorn the city especially at Pumpwell circle, Alake (Kudroli), MG Road, Mangaladevi, Lady Hill, Ballalbagh, and KS Rao Road, mesmerizing each and every commuter and pedestrian. Despite rush hour traffic in the evenings, one can see people taking a few minutes of their precious time to revel in the beauty the city is bathed in, and capturing its joyful mood in their cameras and mobile phones.
Truly, celebration is in the air.
Procession:
The grand procession for the immersion of goddess Sharada and Navadurga of Kudroli Sri Gokrnanatheshwara Temple will begin on Monday October 14 at 4 pm, accompanied by hundreds of tabluex and 'pili vesha' troupes. It will start from Kudroli and pass through Mannagudde – Ladyhill – Lalbhag – PVS – Navabharath circle – KS Rao Road – KB circle – Ganapathy High School Road – Mohini Vilasa – Om Mahal junction – Car Street – Lower Car Street – Alake and wind up in Kudroli Temple.
