Mangalore, Oct 12: Mangalore rural police have arrested three people out of five who are alleged to have blocked the lorry transporting buffaloes at Kudupukatte on Wednesday, October 2. The three along with two others are also alleged to have seriously assaulted five people in the lorry.

The arrested are Moodushedde resident Santhosh, Bhaskar and Gurpur resident Yatish.
Two other suspects are at large. Police have also taken into possession two bikes used in the crime. A criminal case of robbery and attempt to murder is registered against the five people.
The five people in the lorry who were assaulted and were undergoing treatment are recovering. One more person who was injured due to collision of his bike with the lorry is also recuperating, said the police.
The lorry that was plying from Maharashtra to Kerala had collided near Kudupu temple with a bike, injuring its rider Santosh. When the lorry sped away, more than ten people chased it in bikes, stopped the lorry and seriously assaulted Bashir, Mohammed, Abdul Rahiman, Haneef and Zameer who were in the lorry.
Around 20 cattle were found hidden under paddy chaff and tyre tubes in the lorry.
