Mangalore, Oct 12: Mangalore rural police have arrested three people out of five who are alleged to have blocked the lorry transporting buffaloes at Kudupukatte on Wednesday, October 2.  The three along with two others are also alleged to have seriously assaulted five people in the lorry.

The arrested are Moodushedde resident Santhosh, Bhaskar and Gurpur resident Yatish. 

Two other suspects are at large.  Police have also taken into possession two bikes used in the crime.  A criminal case of robbery and attempt to murder is registered against the five people.

The five people in the lorry who were assaulted and were undergoing treatment are recovering. One more person who was injured due to collision of his bike with the lorry is also recuperating, said the police.

The lorry that was plying from Maharashtra to Kerala had collided near Kudupu temple with a bike, injuring its rider Santosh.  When the lorry sped away, more than ten people chased it in bikes, stopped the lorry and seriously assaulted Bashir, Mohammed, Abdul Rahiman, Haneef and Zameer who were in the lorry.

Around 20 cattle were found hidden under paddy chaff and tyre tubes in the lorry.

    Dear SG, the nearest police station is near Kulshekar junction ( Near the old Aspinwall coffee works), but the lorry was stopped on the way near Kudupu. Therefore how could these guys have gone to the nearest police station, if they were waylaid in between and beaten up?

    please see the original news given in daiji. nowwhere it says that lorry hit a biker who was chasing them. it says "It is said that the five were travelling in a lorry, when they hit a bike near Kudupu Temple. The bike rider who was injured was taken to hospital, while the lorry sped away.Angered by the incident, the locals chased the lorry. The driver lost control and the lorry fell by the side of the road near Kumbashri hall near Kudupu Katte. On checking the lorry, the locals found 20 cattle inside.". Now whom do i believe. you or Daiji?
    Does this means the lorry driver was chased because he hit a bike and the cattle thing came out later when public searched the lorry. if you read the oringial article this is the meaning you will get. other wise daiji need to publish the report again with correct facts

    It is a very encouraging sign from the police apprehending the goons who beat up some people transporting cattle.
    They should be put behind bars soonest with "goonda act" applied.

    Government should not delay further in taking action against these Sangh Parivar\RSS law breakers. They are a larger menace to the society than many other criminals.

    I hope this kind of law-enforcing will become stronger and more effective day by day and deter those Parivar goondas from taking law in their own hands..

    Also Government should check who is financing these jobless guys to carry out many such activities and apprehend\take action against them.

    All the cattle traders should follow the rule of the land and intimate the police about their travel.
    Those who transport the cattle in a cruel manner or illegally by theft or banned cattle-cow, they should be strictly dealt with as per the law of the land.
    But the Sangh Parivar foot soldiers taking law on their own hands should also be strictly dealt with because we are living in a civilised society of an elected Government and not a Banana-Republic.

    Can't anyone transport cattle by truck legally or do we need permission from the Bajrang Dal or these hooligans who have taken law into their own hands ? Are the DK & Udupi Police helpless ?

    for all those who disagree i am not questioning these arrests. its good that police arrested the public who took law in their hands. but also they need to arrest the lorry driver for hitting the bike and running away from accident and investigate whether the cattles are being smuggled

    Good job by the law enforcement. No one has the right to assualt another human being for issues related to animals... We understand the feeling on people who treat cattle as God... But no one has the right to kill or hurt another human being ( who is created by God ) in the name of religion or in the name of God...

    If action is not taken against the Sangh Parivar foot soldiers for repeated attack on the minorities by taking law into their own hands, I fear few radical Muslims too may take law into their own hands to retaliate those accused.
    Better the police take action against all the culprits at various places at the earliest.

    The law enforcement has done a good job by arresting fiver persons who have thrashed cattle transporter. Public have no right to take law into their hands.

    Daijiworld commentators truthful comments were heard by the law enforcement.

    I prefer goonda act upon them so that nobody dare to slap the other.
