Washington, Oct 11 (IANS): The White House Thursday condemned the abduction of Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan while also expressing delight over his release.
The White House condemns the kidnapping and is pleased to hear that he has been released, said Jim Carney, the White House spokesperson, during a daily briefing.
He said President Barack Obama was briefed on the incident that Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan was kidnapped Thursday by armed men from a hotel in Libyan capital of Tripoli and was freed hours later, Xinhua reported .
Carney said the US will continue to work closely with the Libyan government as it continues to build its capacity to deliver security and governance to the people of Libya.
