Udupi, Oct 10: When lovers elope, it is the police who search for them. In this particular case though, the man who eloped with a girl happened to be a policeman himself!
In rather an amusing incident, a policeman, on being told to wait by the parents of the girl he loved and wanted to marry, decided to take matters in his own hand and packed off with the girl on Thursday October 10.
The policeman, Ravindra Hebbar (29), belonging to Kundapur district armed reserve (DAR) was deployed on duty at Shree Krishna Math and was among the police security team that guarded the Temple.
For quite sometime, he was pursuing a girl who was doing her engineering.
He had even approached the girl's parents and asked her hand in marriage, but they asked him to wait citing financial constraints. Repeated appeals to the parents were turned down each time by the parents.
Finally, frustrated by the long wait, Hebbar and the girl decided to elope.
Hebbar went to Udupi city police station and submitted a leave application for Thursday, and then disappeared.
On Thursday morning, the girl's parents came to the police station and filed a complaint stating that their daughter had gone missing.
It then came to light that the lovers had eloped. Unconfirmed sources said that they tied the knot the same evening.
Well, that is one love story where the keeper of law became seeker of love!
