Bangalore: St John's College of Nursing celebrates silver jubilee

Bangalore, Oct 10: Karnataka’s Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil appreciated the dedicated and exemplary service of the St John’s College of Nursing and has promised to extend all support to the institution in its future growth.
Participating in the inaugural function of the silver jubilee celebrations of St John’s College of Nursing, the minister warmly complimented the management of the St John’s National Academy of Medical Sciences for their noble, selfless and committed service to all sections of society, especially the poor and marginalized despite the commercialization of medical education.
''St John’s stands out as one of the best institution serving with commitment,” Dr Patil said and assured the support from the Government towards the growth of the institution.
Alphosus Mathias, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore, who presided over the inaugural function of the silver jubilee celebrations, said the celebrations was a felicititious’ coincidence as the golden jubilee of Medical College and the silver jubilee of the college of nursing are being celebrated this year.
Archbishop Mathias recalled that the reason for Johnites to be thankful are threefold. Firstly, an envious evergreen campus, a safe hostel for stay and an excellent opportunity for learning.
He also expressed the need for nurses to get better remunerations so as to reduce the brain drain.
The silver jubilee celebrations began with a thanksgiving mass with Archbishop Bernard Moras
Archbishop said silver jubilee was an occasion to be grateful for all the achievement and expressed that we are at the crossroad where we have to look back at the glorious past with gratitude, look ahead with hope and look at the sides for what is waiting for us.
The history of the college of nursing was presented in the form of a documentary.
The function concluded with a cultural programme and vote of thanks by Reena Menon, Nursing superintendent.
