Bantwal: Tipper carrying earthmover topples, four injured

Bantwal, Oct 8: A tipper lorry carrying a Hitachi earthmover overturned at Pilinja in Golthamajalu here on Monday, October 7.
Four people were injured in the accident. They have been identified as Davangere Karinuru resident Vijay (28), Puttur Shantinagar resident Ummar Farooq (20), Shantinagar resident Naushad (19) and Hassan Arakalagoodu resident Devaraj (22). Vijay is said to be serious.
The Hitachi was being transported from Bolantur to Uppinangady in the lorry bearing Kerala registration. The driver is said to have lost control on the slope near Pilinja on Bolantur road near Golthamajalu. The lorry along with Hitachi overturned, injuring the all the four. The person in the Hitachi was stuck in it, and the locals had to pull him out. He broke a leg.
The injured were taken by 108 ambulance to Mangalore. The accident damaged the front portion of the tipper and the Hitachi. Diesel from both the vehicles was flowing on to the road, causing anxiety among locals.
Police have arrived at the spot and conducted investigation. The Hitachi is said to be from Uppinangady and the lorry from Kunthur.
The injured were taken to Mangalore due to a token strike in the private hospitals in Bantwal.
