Kasargod, Oct 6: K Babu, state minister of fisheries has said that a modern fish processing plant will be built in Kasargod.
He was speaking after laying foundation stone for a fish market at a cost of Rs 2.5 crores on Saturday October 5.
He said that the work on fish market will be started within next ten days. The place for the fish processing plant will be identified soon, he said.
Fish villages will be constructed in Bangra Manjeshwara, Kotikulam, Valiaparamba and Kasaba.
The work on fisheries port in Manjeshwar will start in November, this year. The central government will fund 75% of the cost and the remaining amount will be borne by the state. The government has decided to construct 100 fish markets in the state. The plan for it is being prepared, he said.
The fisheries department has started constructing 39 modern fish markets. The work in Aluva and North Paravooru is over. Work in other places will commence soon, he said.
