Mangalore: Popular Front of India distributes scholarship

Mangalore, Oct 5:
Popular Front of India (PFI) organised a scholarship programme at SAC for the students from the minority sector of the society, especially Muslims on Friday October 4.
 
The district president of Popular Front of India (PFI), Athavulla Jokatte delivered the welcome speech.

He said, “Popular Front of India (PFI) scholarship programme is an initiation to help the minority sections of the society irrespective of their classes, castes and creeds and moreover PFI takes up many programmes for promoting education among the Muslims.”
 
“The Popular Front of India (PFI) provides monetary funds and educational essentials to children from primary section to PUC, around Rs 29 lacs has been distributed to 10,300 students in various districts all over Karnataka,” he added.
 
He also said, “as per 2001 census shows that higher education among Muslims was 3.4% whereas the other minorities were around 36%, in such a situation promoting higher education was necessary. Thus, this scholarship has been focused on higher education.”
 
Muslim central committee president K S Mohammed Masood said, “the Muslim women in the society should be encouraged for higher education and it is very essential that youth from Muslim community try and make their careers in civil services or become an IAS or IPS.”
 
Aksharasantha Harekala Hajabba Ahinda Janachaluvali, Mangalore president Vasudeva Boloor, Karnataka mission netwrok chairman Walter Maben, PFI state vice president Abdul Razak Kemmara, SDPI district president Abookar Kulai, and corporator Ayaz Krishnapur were present on the occasion.
 
The scholarships were distributed to the students from Mangalore, Bantwal, Udupi, Puttur, Kollur and around the district.
