Kundapur: Revenue officials raid illegal quarry, seize items

Kundapur, Oct 4: The revenue officials on Friday October 4 raided an illegal quarry at Arana in Hosur here for continuing to function even after the expiry of its licence.
Land measuring 50 cents, in addition to existing quarry land, was illegally acquired for the purpose. The officials took away hoes, pickaxes and such other tools used in the quarry.
Karunakar Shetty and Narayana Shetty had obtained licence to carry out stone quarry business in partnership at Hosur gram survey No 141p1 in an area of 25 cents.
Though the licence had expired two years ago, it was not renewed. Moreover, adjacent land measuring 50 cents was also used for the purpose. The local people had complained against it to the revenue department.
Revenue department officials led by Vandse revenue inspector Ashok Kumar conducted the raid and seized the items in the quarry.
Village accountant Ravishankar, Kantharaju, Prakash and others assisted the revenue inspector in the raid.
Illegal occupant evicted
Revenue officials here also evicted an illegal occupant of a site meant for shelterless people in Kundapur on Thursday October 3 evening.
Roshan Prasanna, a resident of Devalkunda had illegally built a house in five cents of land in Katbeltur in Hemmady gram panchayat area for himself. The land was allotted to Saraswati Nagamma in the year 2000.
Deputy tahsildar Koraga Billava, revenue inspector Ashok Kumar, officials Ravishankar, Kantaraju, Prakash and gram panchayat office staff inspected the place and made the illegal occupant vacate the house in the presence of police.
Hemmady gram panchayat development official Roopa Gopi, panchayat president Sharath Kumar Shetty and police sub-inspector Jayarama Gowda were present.
