Mangalore, Oct 1: Further investigation into the alleged rape of a minor girl and subsequent arrest of one of the two accused has revealed that the girl was reportedly raped over a period of three months, contrary to initial statement that it happened over the course of a year.
Childline director Renni D'Souza
Speaking to Daijiworld, director of Childline Renni D'Souza, who looked into the case, said that the girl, a 13-year-old, was lured by her relative Vikesh, who used to give her chocolates laced with sedatives or sleeping tablets and then allegedly rape her.
Vikesh's friend Praveen, who is absconding, also joined him in raping the girl, it is alleged. Both the accused are in their 20s. It is said that they also threatened to kill the girl if she revealed the incident to anyone.
Vikesh is an MBA student of a college in the city, while Praveen, who hails from B C Road, is studying in a Mysore college, sources said.
Moreover, Renni said that the girl had the habit of writing in her diary, where she even wrote about the two men who were harassing her. Her mother stumbled upon the diary and on questioning her, the entire incident came to light.
The girl's mother filed a complaint against Vikesh and Praveen in Mangalore rural police station. Among the two, police on Tuesday arrested Vikesh, while Praveen is still at large.
Vikesh has been booked under Section 376 of IPC and other charges.
Police have begun a search for Praveen. Further investigations are on.
