Mangalore: Transformed Kadri Park to be ready in 12-15 months - J R Lobo

Mangalore, Oct 1: In response to a memorandum submitted by Dr K R Shetty and others with regard to the renovation and maintenance of Kadri Park, MLA J R Lobo, along with other officials visited the the park on Tuesday October 1 and carried out inspection.
Addressing the media, Lobo said, "Dr K R Shetty along with others had given me a memorandum with regard to renovation of Kadri Park and its surroundings. Taking up the issue on priority, other officials and I have come to inspect the park today."
He added, "The blueprint for the developmental work is already ready, but it needs a few changes. A musical fountain will be constructed and the land earmarked for this is the old deer park opposite to the park. The total area earmarked is 1.75 acre, out of which 1.25 acre will be utilized for the musical fountain and the remaining 50 cents will be utilized for children's play area.
"The shops and fast food outlets that are now on the roadside will be shifted to commercial complexes that are proposed to be built on either sides of the road. The road will also be developed, complete with footpaths and parking facilities," he said.
The present Kadri Park will be transformed, with inclusion of jogging paths along with upgradation of greenery, plantations, pathways and landscapes, he said.
The project will be jointly undertaken by the MUDA, horticulture department and the MCC. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 5 crore, out of which nearly 2.30 crore has already been sanctioned and the remaing funds will be collected from various sources, he said.
The project will be ready in the next 12 to 15 months, Lobo said.
Architect Vasanth Pai, MCC commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, MUDA chief Mohammed Nazeer, officials Rajendra Kalbhavi, Praveen, Dr K R Shetty, Denis D’Silva, Walter Lobo, Nelson, Mohan Mendon, Krithin Kumar, Jayakar Samarth and others were present.
