Kundapur: Ten injured in serial accident involving buses, bike

Kundapur, Sep 30: Ten persons were injured in an accident involving two buses and a bike here on Monday September 30 evening. One of the injured is said to be serious.
As per eyewitness account, a private bus (Bharathi) plying towards Udupi, stopped all of a sudden to pick a passenger from a spot where the driver was not supposed to halt. Another bus (Bhadra Mahakali) rammed into it from the rear end, and in turn was hit by a bike which was behind.
The Mahakali bus was plying towards Noojady, while the bike rider was on his way home to Bidalkatte.
Ten persons were injured in the accident. Among them, the condition of the bike rider is said to be serious. They were rushed to a private hospital in Kundapur.
Among the injured, nine were passengers in Mahakali bus. They are Shikar (19) from Haklady, Ravikala(18), a resident of Noojady and student of Sharada College, Shwetha, Gopal (16), Sharada (31), Sanjeeva (36), Savitha(23), Vasmine (36), and Vinay Devadiga (23)
Nagaraj Shetty, who was riding the bike, is a resident of Bidkalkatte and teacher in Hunimakki Government School. He sustained serious face injuries.
The driver and the conductor of Bhadra Mahakali bus fled from the spot.
Kundapur traffic police have registered a case.
Car-bus collision near Trasi beach - Miraculous escape for two
In another accident on Monday September 30, two persons had a miraculous escape after a bus rammed head-on into their car near Trasi beach.
The car was moving from Honnavar to Udupi, while the KSRTC bus was plying from Kundapur to Bhatkal.
It is said that the bus driver, in a bid to overtake a vehicle, hit the Swift car which was approaching from the opposite direction. The occupants of the car escaped with injuries.
The injured have been identified as Salim Saheb (48), son of Mohammad Isaac, and Zainuddin Holekar, son of Kasim Holekar. Both are residents of Honnavar. They were on their way to Udupi for medical treatment. Zainuddin was driving the car.
The car was completely damaged.
With the help of 24*7 helpline Gangolli Team, the injured were rushed to a private hospital. Their families were also informed.
Gangolli police have registered a case.
