Mangalore: Three seriously injured in serial accident on national highway

Mangalore, Sep 29: Three persons were seriously injured in a serial accident that took place between a Kerala state transport bus, a fish lorry and an Omni car on national highway 66 at Ullal here on Sunday September 29.
Kerala bus driver Kasargod Kunhiraman (35), lorry driver Vishayan (40) and Anup (28), both residents of Ponnadi were the injured.
The Kerala express bus which was plying from Kasargod to Mangalore, while overtaking another vehicle, collided with a fish lorry which was plying from Mangalore to Ponnadi.
At the same time, an Omni car which was behind the bus collided into it. The Omni was being driven by Kasargod resident John. He and Naveen, who was also in the car, miraculously escaped unhurt. The car's front portion was completely damaged.
The passengers in the bus also escaped without any injury.
Lorry driver Vishayan was struck in the vehicle for more than half an hour, though the police and people tried to pull him out. Eventually, the fire personnel arrived and rescued him.
The three persons who sustained serious injuries were admitted to hospital.
Following the incident, the national highway was blocked for an hour. Ullal police with the help of the public cleared the traffic.
