Dubai, Sep 28: Little Flowers Mukamar, an association of parishioners of Mukamar, Udupi diocese spread across UAE gathered along with their well-wishers, friends and families at India Club to celebrate the completion of three glorious years of the association's formation in the UAE.
The association which has risen to fame within a short period of time organized a well planned event which included a superb musical event and loads of spot prizes.
Dony Correa and Asha Correa, the highly talented couple who have been the life of several Konkani events in the UAE, took charge of the event as comperes and kept the audience on their toes throughout the event, winning the hearts of everyone who particpated in the event.
The event started around at 12.30 pm on Friday, September 27 with a prayer song dedicated to St Teresa, the patron saint of Mukamar parish.
UAE's well-known singers Asha Fernandes, Rony Nazareth, Harish Sherigar, Joseph Mathias along with up-and-coming young music composer Ajith Peter D'Souza, and new face Nishan D'Souza entertained the audience with superhit Konkani songs. Russel D'Souza provided the music and Anil Cardoza, the emerging DJ of Dubai kept the audience on the dance floor with his DJ music.
The dance performances by two groups - Danica and team presenting 'Mozo Desh India" which won the top prize at the recently concluded Mangalore Konkans' Talents Day, and mix-fast dance by Marina Menezes and team - stole the show.
A meaningful stage programme was conducted at around 1.30 pm with Raju Francis Fernandes of SPPE Dubai, main sponsor of the event as chief guest and Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld as guest of honour.
A spectacular grotto set up by the Mukamar parishioners was the centre of attraction. The event was officially inaugurated by lighting the candles for patron St Teresa's satue. Joseph Mathias, Frank Fernandes, Harish Sherigar, James Mendonca were also present during the candle lighting ceremony along with committee members of LFM.
Speaking on the occasion, Raju Fernandes hailed the unity of Mukamar parishioners in UAE, specially in reaching out to the needy people back home. "I thought it was a small event when I was invited for today's function, but it turned out to be very professional and fantastic event. I wish the association all the best," he said.
Walter Nandalike recalled how the association started three years back, and became popular so soon because of the sincere efforts of each and every member of the association. "When there is a clear goal and accurate guidance one can achieve anything in this world. LKM is true example for that as they have a clear vision and goal, supported by guides like senior members such as Dayan D'Souza and Lancy D'Souza," he said. He narrated how one can achieve success by making proper use of time; as everyone in this world has got 24 hours a day, but those who learn how and when to use their time fruitfully, will always be successful. He recalled the support of Fr Victor D'Souza, parish priest of Mukamar who has been the spiritual director for the association.
Lancy D'Souza, senior member and one of the founding members of LKM was honoured during the event for his contribution to Konkani community, especially to Mukamar parish. He was presented with shawl, fruits, memento and citation by the guests.
Earlier, president Reshma D'Cruz welcomed the gathering. Advisory member Dayan D'Souza was also present on the stage.
A number of spot prizes were given. Sponsors and media sponsor of the event were also felicitated. Dayan D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
The event ended at 4.30 pm. A delicious lunch was part of the event.
