Mangalore: Cheshire Home celebrates Founder's Day

Mangalore, Sep 26: Cheshire Home celebrated Founder's Day in memory of their initiator Sir Geoffrey Leonard Cheshire at Kankanady here on Wednesday September 25.

The function started with a devotional song by the inmates of Cheshire Home, followed by a dance performed by the differently-abled children, which was highly appreciated by the gathering.

Founder member and former MLC Octavia Albuquerque along with Pramoda Shetty, president of Karnad Sadashiva Rao Memorial Trust and other committee members garlanded the photo of Lord Cheshire after which the function was inaugurated by lighting the lamp ceremony.

Cheshire home Mangalore chairperson Wilma Aranha delivered the welcome speech and the annual report was presented by secretary Terry Vaz.

Pramoda Shetty, president of Karnad Sadashiva Rao Memorial Trust was the chief guest for the occasion.

In her presidential address she said, "Karnad Sadashiva Rao Memorial Trust tries its best to help and support such homes for the society. Every year we donate money to a number of homes and strive for their welfare."

She also remembered her father the late K K Shetty, who was a district Congress president and and founder of Karnad Sadashiva Rao Memorial Trust.

The presidents of Lioness, Rotary Ann, Inner Wheel Club and Ladies Social Service League were also present.
