Mangalore: Chaos, gunshot as brawl erupts between advocate, student

Mangalore, Sep 25: Tension prevailed at Moodbidri on Wednesday September 25 after an advocate and a student allegedly assaulted each other at the bus stand.

The incident occurred at Moodbidri bus stand at around 2 pm when lawyer Shantiprasad Hegde, who was with his daughter, was turning his Innova car.

The car hit a student standing nearby. Angered by this, the student, identified as Tanseer Ahmed, studying in a Mangalore-based college, allegedly assaulted the lawyer.

Soon the other lawyers and local people joined in the fight and advocate Hegde fired two rounds with his pistol in self defence. Luckily, both times the bullets missed and no injury was reported. Tanseer, however, claimed that Hegde, having missed the aim, hit his head with the revolver and inflicted injuries.
 
Fearing for his life, the Tanseer ran and hid inside the nearby Juma Masjid.  A group tried to create trouble in front of the mosque but the Muslims there intervened and calmed down the situation.
 
The police who arrived at the spot took the student in their custody and shifted him to Wenlock hospital in Mangalore.

Meanwhile, advocate Hegde lodged a complaint against Tanseer alleging that he tried to strangle him and even snatched away his revolver and fired at him. Hegde too has been admitted to hospital.

Moodbidri police have registered a case. Tight security was deployed at the spot following the incident.

    It is purely a misuse of the licensed weapon in a crowded place for such a petty issue that would have killed the innocent bystanders.
    The matured advocate should have controlled his anger and handed over this hot blooded youth to the police.
    The advocate's statement to the police was in a typical lawyer's language but the police should know the hidden truth behind this avoidable street fight.

    Who is guilty or who is prompt no one knows the truth. Some media says there would be an attempt to murder on advocate by the student! but it's highly impossible when we see the face of the student, does he have a courage to do so? My argument is when a person does not know to shoot a rifle in a proper manner, why he was provided gun license by the authority? in case of any adverse situation might have raised, who is held responsible? What a non-sense. If everyone applies for gun license to shoot at any suspicious on his desire for himself protection, why law & order is implemented? However, an ordinary advocate, who used to secure justice always to public grievances, who acted like a ‘goonda’ , it seems a situation called “ beliye yeddu hola mayidaga”!?

    Whatever may be the reason.
    Lawyers attitude is not acceptable.
    He should have helped the student file an counter complaint at police station and lying lawyer should be prosecuted properly.
    If he has no enough strength and grip to hold a revolver where one student can snatch it away as he claims, he has no right to hold a revolver. Tomorrow his his own w... or l... on risk.

    How can advocate carry Pistol n fire ? Some of the advocates are really goons. He should first learn to pass a driving test in proper way. Driving innova in busy roads is not a joke. An volvo bus driver will be cut off from outside environment once he starts driving. This results in mistakes if one is not aware of what is goin on outside in real-time.

    If one had apologised then such incident wouldnot have happened.... Thank GOD nobody was injured in the gunshot.... nowadays people are loosing thier cool for trivial reasons.... ( just for not putting onion for omblette the person is shot).... Really one needs to keep cool in order to survive in this world.... here both the student and also the Advocate.....
    1. Student has to think of his future... wherreas Advocate has to think of his family..... If something unwanted more serious accident had occured who would have been the looser....

    Nowadays whatever silly matter is goes to a Explosive stage.heated discussion,nobody will give upeven his /her fault is.so here also.Lawyer should have find out whether Student was wounded and say sorry.At the same time even Student felt like offended and thought it is my right to defend.why the lawyer didnt apologize?and the public is there to put salt to the discussion.Lawyer must have felt he willbe knocked down by the public since his fault,so started firing at random.everything caused. confusion,.

    I feel sorry for the student. First he got hit by the car. Then got assaulted by the advocate. Then had to run for his life and hide in the mosque. Finally got taken by the police into their custody. Poor chap!

    Shanthi Prasad is brother of advocate P.P. Hegde. He is known for arrogant in Moodbidri. It is a petty issue and no need to pull his revolver for self defence against a student.It should be investigated for what purpose he is keeping the gun? is it licensed one? Those who are carring gun's means they involved in illegal/criminal activities unless they are Ministers or celebrities

    Well, if in case a vehicle hit me by mistakenly n the driver immediately stopped his vehicle n come to me n take care of me with apologies,then i must not loose patience or get angry instead parden him n say thank GOD.
    This is what a true muslim could have do instead assaulting him is not the right way.
    But if the driver didn't do so then this kind of development can happen easily.

    As elections are nearing,a small silly things can turn out to be a exploitable one n will end up in the arms of political parties to gain up.

    What kind of self defence lawyer showed by firing on air infront of an unarmed student???

    Lawyer Hegde hit the car to student, fired with pistol and student was injured when he hit the car. but i didn't understand why police taken the student in to custody. who is guilty here. if they fought each other, both of them should have to taken to custody. who put his name as Shanthi Prasad Hegde? his name should be Violence Prasad Hegde. accident will happen with anybody and anywhere, but he should had the courtesy to say sorry and must had to proceed for student's first aid. but he started goondagiri with his supporters is not fair. why locals have taken one side, first they must had to beaten him and damage his car for his ruthless act.

    Such a simple matter gunshot not required, becuase advocate can change the case, so he use his revolver, so it is better to cancel his licence and department should take back his revolver, other wise again he will misuse the same.

    It is a silly matter and issues like this going out of control is very unfortunate.Some are how Moodbidri known for peaceful atmosphere did it's commitment.Firing for self defence by advocate seems to be extreme step which could be investigated on merit by police.
