Mangalore: Fire to Modi banner at Mudipu - Police arrest four

Mangalore, Sep 25: The Konaje police on Tuesday September 24 arrested four persons for setting fire to a Narendra Modi banner near Muloor cross in Mudipu junction, here.
The arrested have been identified as Nawaz, Mohammed Azwin, Ziyad and Rahim, all residents of Mudipu.
On September 18, the accused had an argument with tempo driver Abdul Rahiman near Muloor cross and later attacked him and his tempo. They set fire to the banner showing BJP's PM candidate Modi. They also stopped a private bus and damaged its window panes, after which they fled the spot.
The accused later fled to Kerala and then moved to Bangalore. On receiving authentic information, police arrested them near Nandarapaddu when they were on the way back to Kerala.
Two days later on September 20, a similar incident was reported at Gurpur, wherein a banner showing Modi and Swami Vivekananda was set on fire. It is not known whether the same persons were involved in both the incidents.
