Udupi: Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde elected BJP district president

Udupi, Sep 24: Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde has been elected the new district president of BJP. He has also served as the chairman of Coastal Development Authority.
He took charge of his post from Udaykumar Shetty on Monday September 23 at the district BJP office.
Addressing the gathering, Hegde said, "I will undertake works that would enable the BJP to correct its past mistakes and ensure victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha election."
He said the present challenge before the BJP is the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. All attempts will be made to regain BJP's hold in the district. "Measures will be taken to strengthen the party from the grassroots level," he added.
"I will ensure that Udupi will always remain the fortress of BJP," he declared.
Outgoing distrct BJP president Udaykumar Shetty thanked all the people who supported him during his tenure.
He also announced that MLA Sunil Kumar has been appointed as the vice-president of the state BJP unit.
Shyamala Kundar who was appointed as the party state secretary was also honored along with Thingale.
Former minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, ZP president Upendra Nayak, Suresh Nayak, Ravi Amin, Mattar Ratnakar Heggde, Geetanjali Suvarna, Kutyaru Naveen Shetty among others were present.
