Mangalore: Winners of Konkani Natak Sabha contests receive fruits of hard work

Mangalore, Sep 22: The non-stop downpour pleasantly blended with the thunderous applause in the decades-old Don Bosco hall as winners of various competitions organized by Konkani Natak Sabha were honoured during the prize distribution ceremony on September 21.
The winners of various Konkani competitions which were held during the year were felicitated on the occasion. The competitions were elocution, poetry, fancy dress, dance, Bible skit and Golden singing competition.
As winners came on to the stage to receive the prizes – some individuals while some in group – the audience clapped, whistled and cheered. At the end, a musical band accompanied the joyous ceremony.
In the Golden Singing competition, Bajpe parish bagged Golden Trophy, while Cordel parish stood second and Bondel parish third place in the children's category. Cordel parish bagged Golden trophy in adults category while Gurpur parish stood second and Jeppu parish third place.
In the fancy dress competition Bondel parish bagged first rolling shield, while Angelore parish stood second and Cordel parish third place in the children's category. Angelore parish bagged the rolling shield in adults category while Bondel parish stood second and Bajpe parish third place.
In the dance competition Bondel parish bagged the rolling shield, while Cordel parish stood second and Milagris and Cascia parish third place in the children's category. Bondel parish bagged the rolling shield in adults category while Modankap, Katipalla and Permannur parish stood second place and Cordel and Puttur parish third place.
In the Bible skit competition Paldane parish bagged the first place, while Permannur parish second and Cordel parish, the third place.
Bondel parish bagged overall championship in all the competitions except Golden singing competition conducted by the Konkani Natak Sabha in the year 2013 by 48 points with a permanent trophy for the consecutive third year.
President of Konkani Natak Sabha Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza distributed prizes for elocution, poetry and fancy dress competition while Santhosh Sequeira, owner Santhosh Arrangers, Kankanady distributed dance competition prizes. The prizes of Golden Singing competiton were distributed by poet Melvyn Rodrigues, director (operations) of Daijiworld.com.
Vice-president Dolphy Saldanha, general secretary Sunil Menezes and treasurer Prem Lobo were present on the dais.
President Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering. General secretary Sunil Menezes read the list of prize winners and congratulated them on behalf of Konkani Natak Sabha and proposed the vote of thanks. Dolphy Saldanha compered the programme.
