Top UP minister behind Muzaffarnagar flare-up, says BJP

New Delhi, Sep 18 (PTI): Citing a sting operation on the Muzaffarnagar riots, the BJP on Wednesday said it has been proved beyond doubt that a senior minister of the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh is responsible for the flare-up of the incident and demanded stern action against the guilty.

"The expose by a news channel about the riots in Muzaffarnagar is serious, sensitive and a matter of concern for democracy. It proves beyond doubt who is behind the riots. The SP government was completely involved in the events and had a politically motivated, lopsided view of the whole issue," BJP spokesperson Sudanshu Trivedi said.

A news channel had aired a sting operation on Tuesday which showed some police personnel naming Azam Khan, a senior minister in the UP government, as the one who intervened and asked the cops to release seven men involved in the initial violence in Muzaffarnagar. This allegedly led to further violence as people reacted to their release.

"BJP demands that the UPA government takes effective and stern action against the SP government. Effective legal action should also be taken against those involved irrespective of their stature in government," Trivedi said.

The main opposition alleged that since no action has been taken by the Centre till now, which shows Congress and SP are "hand in glove".

The party also posed pointed questions at Congress, SP and social groups which often target Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on the issue of secularism.

"During their visit to the riot-affected area, the Prime Minister and the UP chief minister met only some sections of the people and it was clearly visible that they have a lopsided view and their visit was politically motivated," Trivedi said.

Maintaining that SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier stated that the violence in Muzaffarnagar was a caste conflict and not a communal riot, BJP sought to know what his view was now after the expose.

"We also want to ask the social groups and self-styled champions of secularism who keep harping about the Gujarat riots of 2002 why they are maintaining a shameless silence on the Muzaffarnagar riots. They seem to be motivated by their prejudices," Trivedi said.

So far people were equating only Godhra Carnage with Delhi Sikh massacre. Now we can add Muzaffarnagar genocide also in same breadth.
Three different parties were involved in these three inhuman acts, but the ultimate damage to the humanity is the same.

UP Govt totally failed to control the riots. Akhilesh was busy in giving the orders to police to act soft on one particular community else he will not get votes during next LS elections.

There is a massive anti NaMo & anti BJP campaign going o in India, masterminded by Congress & spearheaded by SP-Yadav family. In spite of such damning sting operation clips, Congress is saving SP Govt in UP. Arrests are being made of only opposition parties. In spite of crystal clear evidence of local govt hand in glove in spreading riots, Congress is not kicking out SP from UP....!!! It is clear case of suppressing Hindus, or should one think that ethnic cleansing is being supported in UP...!!!

The transcript of the phone call is in Hindi, and has been published in many newspapers. The biggest question is about the Jolly Canal incident when members of Jat Mahasabha were returning from their meeting and were attacked with AK-47 and hand granedes. The transcript of police wireless transmission talk about atleast 300 Jat members on 12 tractors being fired upon indiscriminately. The district collector says over 250 are still missing. The government says only 12 were killed at the canal. The rest were probably not reported to avoid the backlash on Mulayam Singh government.

Pseudo secular parties are thriving by effectively neutralizing Hindu votes through caste-based division tactics and increasing the insecurity feeling among Muslims. Hindus needs to stay united and Muslims needs to support them to bring India out the mess it currently in.
