Udupi, Sep 17: Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) national president, H D Deve Gowda said that he is in the process of reviving his party and strengthening it at the grassroots level.
“I am working towards revival of my party in the state. I have initiated measures to strengthen my party at the grassroots, he said, addressing a press meet at Hotel Swadeshi during his visit to the district on Tuesday, September 17.
He further said that he began his work in Udupi, and will extend it to Chikmagalur, Uttar Kannad, Mangalore and Shimoga in the coming days. "I also sought blessings at Kollur Mookambika temple," he added.
"There are many good workers and leaders in the party. All top leaders like P G R Sindhia will take part in the process of strengthening the party. I plan to visit all 30 districts and meet party workers before the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections," he said.
He strongly opposed the idea of building a Third Front. "It will be entirely the people’s decision on who will come to power next," he said.
He brushed aside a question on BJP's PM nominee Narendra Modi and said, "As far Modi is concerned, I do not want to rate him. My limits are confined to the state. There are many regional political partues in the country in various states. We are with CPI (M) and we will work with them," he said.
