Mangalore, Sep 14: A jubilant district BJP unit on Saturday September 14 celebrated its leader and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi's elevation as the PM nominee for the 2014 elections.
The party workers and leaders, some of them wearing Narendra Modi masks, expressed their joy by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.
District BJP president Pratapsimha Nayak said that Narendra Modi was the right choice to lead the country and steer it out of the numerous problems like corruption and inflation created by the ruling UPA government. Under Modi's rule, the citizens can live with peace and harmony and the country will see more development and better infrastructure, he said.
"Narendra Modi will make India one of the most powerful countries in the world," he added.
MLC Monappa Bhandary echoed Nayak's words and said that Modi is the choice of young India and he would definitely win the forthcoming elections by a large margin.
Taking potshots at the UPA, Bhandary said that for almost a decade, corruption and maladministration by the Congress-led government had destroyed the country's economy and made the rupee nosedive against the dollar. Hence, Narendra Modi is the only hope to bring back the country on the path of development, he said.
Modi was declared as the BJP's prime ministerial nominee on Friday September 13 following a meeting of the party's parliamentary board.
