Paris, Sep 14 (IANS): French President Francois Hollande stressed the need to reinforce international support to Syrian opposition "to enable it to face the (Syrian) regime's attacks".
Hollande Friday met the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan here.
He "stressed the need to stand firm against the regime of Bashar Al-Assad, to dissuade him from committing further use of chemical weapons and accept negotiations to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis".
Hollande and his main Arab allies also stressed their "commitment to help establish a united and free Syria in which the safety and rights of all communities are respected", reported Xinhua from a statement by the presidency office.
The French foreign ministry announced the French, British and the US foreign ministers were scheduled to meet in Paris Monday to discuss the Syrian crisis.
