Bangalore, Sep 14: I will retire from active politics only after bringing JD(S) to power in state, said JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda.
He was addressing media persons at the JD(S) party office where newly-appointed party state president A Krishnappa took charge.
"There is a need to further strengthen the party in the state. In future, JD(S) will grow to greater heights, and till then I will continue to fight," he said.
"In politics, winning and losing is a part of the game and I am not disappointed by the party’s defeat," he said, advising the new president to strengthen the party to fight against Congress and BJP.
"There are several allegations being made against me. They call JD(S) a party of father and son, a party of corruption and by various other names, to which I will answer directly to the people by touring the whole state," said Deve Gowda.
"My future fight will be like Mahabharata and it will be headed by Krishnappa. I will visit the coastal districts from September 17 along with Krishnappa and other leaders. It is the duty of all the party activists to support the new leader and strengthen the party," he added.
"With Krishnappa taking charge, the party is filled with excitement and new energy. In future, JD(S) will definitely come to power. It is mainly the duty of youth to strengthen the party," he said.
"People say that I am an enemy of the backward class, but the truth will be revealed soon. Any community belonging to backward class is a big community. In North India, Sharad Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Lalu Prasad are among the strongest leaders. I am also aware of the conspiracies against them," he said.
"A Krishnappa was unanimously elected as the state president and there is no confusion in this matter. We have many leaders who can take the party ahead but in the present situation, we have decided that Krishnappa is the apt leader," he added.
