Mangalore: Rural areas to get better internet connectivity - Milind Deora

Mangalore, Sep 11: There are plans to extend the benefits of information technology to people in rural areas by implementing broadband internet service in rural areas of the country, said Milind Deora, minister of state, communications, IT and shipping.
He addressed media persons on Tuesday September 10 during his visit to Mulky Bappanadu Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple.
"Under Bharat Broadband Corporation, a project will be undertaken to optimise BSNL services in rural areas and all the necessary steps will be taken to give broadband facility to all gram panchayats," he said.
"In order to develop the city economically, steps will be taken to develop the New Mangalore Port and call more ships. The commercial roadblocks due to iron ore ban will be sorted out by encouraging coal imports and commercial exports," he said.
"The Aadhar card project will also be undertaken through post office," he added.
State youth services and fisheries minister K Abhayachandra Jain who was present on the occasion asked the minister to set up a postal circle office in Mangalore.
Milind Deora, his wife and father-in-law Manmohan Shetty of Adlabs were honoured on behalf of the temple by temple head Manohar Shetty.
Mulky panchayat president Shashikanth Shetty, vice-president Yogesh Kotian, entrepreneur Aravind Poonja, temple priest Sripathi Upadhyaya, Krishna Shetty, Kishore Shetty, Udaya Shetty, Uday Kumar Shetty, temple manager Shivashankar among others were present.
